Conceived and created as a donated, carved wall frieze unit tribute by the artist, by permission and design suggestion of the then battalion commander of the currently active 1st battalion (airborne) 509th infantry, based in Ft Polk, LA. This carving features the unit’s historic official heraldic WWII coat of arms superimposed in high relief and centered upon the parachute of a scaled up version of the US Army’s jump master parachute badge award, it was formally installed in 2008 at Huff Hall, the units museum located at the 1-509th headquarters, as a gift from both the 509th Parachute Infantry Association and its member artist, honoring this units service to our nation. 27" Diameter
