"Caribou in the Redwoods"
Art is Stone Age Man's first sign of culture. Art is a manifestation of Man's attempt to somehow capture and control his environment. In rock carvings and paintings of ancient Scandinavia, the caribou is pictured time and again. It has become in some way the symbol of the Scandinavian people. The artist was inspired to render this sculpture in honor of the many Scandinavian nationalities he has known and befriended in his travels, nationally and internationally. This unique wall mural is of rare birds-eye redwood burl. (Burl results from a growth or lesion that creates beautiful small circles that resemble the eyes of small birds in the wood.) The piece measures 26" X 31" X 1 1/2."
