"Midgard Serpent "

The Midgard Serpent was inspired from a 7th century 2-dimensional bronze brooch, representing Thor's eternal enemy, the world serpent. In Norse legend, the serpent lurked in the ocean, coiled around the earth. Thor finally killed the serpent in an epic fight, but later fell dead, poisoned by its venom. The artist was inspired to render this piece on a much larger scale in 3-demensions, bringing this piece to life. The chosen medium is an elegant black walnut.

(11.5" x 14" x 2.25" )
