"Viking Encampment Shelving Unit"

I received a request for a custom traveling shelving unit from a California based Viking age re-enactor who travels each year to Viking festivals around the world.  Utilizing his required measurements for a collapsible Viking encampment shelving unit, I created this beautiful piece of functional Viking art.  There were no archaeological artifacts on which to draw inspiration so I decided to incorporate the period design of the beds from both the Oseberg and Gokstad burial finds from Norway to incorporate into this new shelving units design concept.

The following design rendered from differing sources, encompassed sixteen separate mortises, and tendons to accommodate its four separate shelves, with each protruding tendon carved into the shape of the serpents heads, based upon the  Oseberg ships prow serpent mast head carving .   The main upright side shelf support posts are carved into the animal head shape designs of the tent post heads found in the Gokstad ship burial mound.
