"Dragon Wreath"

This enchanting sculpture was inspired by and adapted from a engraving on a silver bowl found in Gotland, Sweden. The challenge to the artist was to take this one-dimensional, flat line engraving and to render it into a two- and three-dimensional sculpture. The title of the sculpture came to the artist near its completion. Its shape and form carry the appearance of a wreath consisting of an entwined pair of Urns-style dragons. It was created from a straight-grained redwood slab that measured 6' X 3' with a depth of 4". The completed sculpture has an impressive measurement of 26" X 31" X 3". [See Public Art]
